Our Staff

Mat is the firm’s managing partner.  Mat is licensed to practice as a certified public accountant in North Carolina and South Carolina and has 30 years of experience in industry and public accounting.  Mat received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 1991.  He has served as Controller for a manufacturing concern and accounting manager for an international poultry processor.  Mat has experience in governmental units, not-for-profit, healthcare, construction, public utilities and manufacturing enterprises.

Laura Lynn is a Partner and is licensed to practice as a certified public accountant in North Carolina.  Laura Lynn received her undergraduate degree in accounting from North Carolina State University in 1989.  She has worked in public accounting with the national firm Price Waterhouse Coopers and as an accounting manager with Glaxo SmithKline, as well as serving on various non profit boards as treasurer. 

Gaynelle is a Senior Accountant and received her undergraduate degree in accounting and Masters in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 1991 and 1995, respectively. She worked with both UNC SE Health and Columbus Regional Healthcare for over 29 years after beginning her career in public accounting.

Katie is an Accountant and received her undergraduate degree in accounting and Masters in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2020 and 2021, respectively. She began her accounting career with Patterson & Associates, PLLC in 2018 as an intern and full time in 2020.

Teresa is a Senior Accountant and received her undergraduate degree in accounting from Wright State University in 1985. She has worked for several different CPA firms over a 35 year career and concentrates on the firm’s bookkeeping and payroll clients. Teresa is considered the firm’s QuickBooks expert and has extensive experience helping small businesses set up their accounting processes.

Aaron is an Accountant/CPA candidate and received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2023. He began his accounting career with Patterson & Associates, PLLC in 2023. Aaron is currently enrolled in the MBA program at UNC-Pembroke and is studying for the CPA Exam.
